Traversing silver laden landscapes and astro projection were the devices behind the concept for the original bracelet of this kind. A few years back I had a bag of my late mother's broken sterling jewelry and wanted to find a way to forge it into something that I could keep with me always. This led me to melting it all down with torch fire, and as the metal melted and came together I stretched it and formed it with a steel pick. Afterwords I shaped it to fit atop a silver band that I had reticulated. Further still, I then bombarded it with different kinds of hammers to give it shape and form. I then polished it until feather soft. The entire process was very sentimental to me. The way in which something beautiful could come from so many broken pieces, fire and heavy blows, touched on similar nerves of my past with my mother. Not perfect, this bracelet represents our love and the life we had to live and the things we lived through. I named it, Silver Landscapes, as the silver took on a topographical mountain feel and often reminds me of our many hikes together and our kindred love for nature. It was such a pleasure to remake this bracelet into two reincarnations for a beautiful client. Thank you for all of your support and kind words. Back to smithing for me!
